Malin and I have been engaged for a long time...in our hearts. I accepted that I would not have the "down on one knee" experience because we have discussed marriage from early on. No serious planning ever took place. We just figured when the time was right, we'd set a date and get married.
I was working on a paper for school on my laptop. I was sitting on the far end of the couch typing away to meet my deadline. Malin was on the floor at the other end of the couch playing a video game. He reached his hand over to me and said "Give me your left hand." I told him I was busy. So he said it again. To make it stop I gave him my hand...and he kissed it. "Will you marry me?" he asked as he leaned over the couch. I thought he was joking and said "This is how you are going to ask?" and laughed at him. I took my hand back and went back to writing my paper. He got up, moved my lap top, got down on two knees, took my hands in his and asked again...and again, and again. You see, I still thought he was joking.
When I finally realized he was serious, I said yes lol. And my first ring was a gold twist tie. I will cherish that twist tie forever. |
