The Story . . .

Brandon and I first "met" on MySpace over 14 years ago when we were 15 and 16. We spent countless hours talking on AIM (the good ol' days), speaking on the phone, texting, video chatting, and FaceTiming. We talked about EVERYTHING & we confided in each other about serious and silly things - just your normal teenage talk. During high school and years after, I remember telling my parents & best friends about him and how I wished he wasn't 3,000 miles away . . . I would refer to him as "Washington" or "My Washington Boyfriend" & I think everyone thought I was crazy (which is bizarre to me-isn't it obvious I'm a little unique?).

At the ten year mark, things got more serious. Brandon called me one day in November (I think) of 2013 and said something along the lines of, "It's been ten years. I'm flying out there to meet you."

Here's where my best recollection of dialogue comes in:

"That would be amazing, Brandon. I want you to, but what if it worked out and you had to go back?"

"I'll just move there."

"What about your friends and family?"

"They're still going to be my friends and family."

Obviously, my parents were skeptical and thought this was too good to be true. And ya can't blame 'em. It does seem a little farfetched. But you know when you just know that feeling with your "someone"? And you can never find the words to even remotely express how much you care for a person, but you just know you both feel committed? Well, even without ever meeting in person offically, we've both invested so much time into each other, and that mutual feeling of love was just there. I just knew it was right. We both felt it.

Fast forward to January 16, 2014. Brandon flies from Washington state to New Jersey-3,000 miles-to visit me for a four-day weekend. I can't even begin to tell you how infatuated I became with Brandon instaneously. It was kind of ridiculous, actually. My first thoughts upon seeing him at their airport were, he's even hotter in person! He held my hand the entire car ride down to Atlantic City and I noticed that his smile never left his face. There was never an awkward silence or a dull moment and everything really just felt so natural and perfect. We had a casual dinner, won some $$$, saw a DJ at HQ and stayed up until 6 in the morning. I just didn't want to close my eyes a miss a minute of being with him. Everything was more perfect beyond my wildest dreams.

For the sake of keeping this relatively brief, Brandon flew out one more time in March for a few more days & then on my birthday at the end of March, Brandon's work transfer came into effect and he began his drive across the country to move to New Jersey. He packed up everything in his car, his personal belonings, including my adoptive child (my little puppy girl), and began his drive across the country through white-out snowstorms and the potholes on the east coast.

He made it here safely & the rest is history. I've never been so in love and so absolutely sure of anything in my entire life. Brandon has always been the one I've waited for in my adult years and it's still so surreal to me that we have accomplished this. He's the most supportive, kind, romantic, and hard-working partner I could ever ask for. I wouldn't change a single thing.
