Coba Mayan Village We will immerse ourselves in an Indiana Jones experience! Coba was once a trading center of the Maya, and is an archaeological site that dates back 1,500 years. On our honeymoon, we will climb the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan, the Nohoch Muul Temple and gaze out over a series of lagoons that surround the archaeological site and discover large hand-etched stone tablets predicting an astronomical event to occur in 2011. Then it’s off to a cenote, a unique geological phenomenon that Ancient Mayan mythology considered to be sacred entrances into the underworld. Here, we will jump in for a refreshing swim as we admire the natural beauty surrounding us. Later in the day, we will visit a Mayan village and observe ancestral traditions and customs still present in the villagers’ daily routines. Mayan families will welcome us into their homes and show us aspects of their daily life like construction, hunting, agriculture, cuisine, religion, weaving and embroidery. This will be an eye-opening day that we wish would not end!

Riviera Maya Snorkeling Adventure Tour
On our honeymoon, we will take the Riviera Maya Snorkeling Adventure Tour and enjoy a “Robinson Crusoe” type day away from the busy beaches and pools of our hotel! We’ll jump into the warm Caribbean waters and swim with colorful tropical fish and the amazing diversity of marine life as we marvel at the coral formations on the Great Mayan Reef, the second largest reef system in the world. Small launches will take us just a short distance from the beach out to the reefs and return back from our snorkeling session so we are not on the water the entire day. Once we are back on shore, we will relax on a private, powder-soft beach as we indulge in a delicious Caribbean barbecue lunch of grilled chicken, local fish and tasty meat tacos served right there on the beach. Captain Hook An 18th century replica of a Spanish galleon, Captain Hook, is in charge of the evening as he brings us tales of the sea and hosts a scrumptious dinner right on board! The “pirate” ships are so authentic they were used by the Bahamas Quincentennial Committee to re-enact the arrival of Christopher Columbus at San Salvador in 1992. We will sail in the calm waters of Cancun’s bay and the evening will be filled with plenty of laughter, music, dancing and a surprise or two!
